I’d like to say thanks to Mihai, again, for giving me the chance to publish my article here on AREA 1. The last article about SEO which was written here is WordPress SEO – 6 basic tips for better SEO.
So here’s, as Mihai promised when he told you that a new SEO related article coming soon, a brand new SEO related article on AREA 1.
A good positioning in Google and Yahoo also, means that you need to go through 2 big steps. First, on-page optimizing and the second, the link-building campaign or off-page optimization.
Step 1
The first phase, the optimization itself, involves the correction of information already present on your website or creating new pages that comply with the requirements of the search engines.
Step 2
The second phase, created at some time after the appearance of the first ranking algorithm, the Backlinks campaign, involves a large number of quality links back to your site.
Since recent years, and until now, the search engines (especially Google) payed attention to the number of links that a site receives. This measure was adopted to eliminate results that do not interest to visitors. A SPAM site (theoretically) has no interest to users, and (theoretically) it does not get links from relevant sites.
PageRank of a page (or site) is calculated based on the quality and number (see order) the links that a page (or site) receives. So, the PageRank of a site, has direct connection with its popularity. Check the following link to read more about PageRank.
Meanwhile, in the web optimization process, links are the best tool to optimize a page or a site. The text included in the anchor of links helps in positioning the results in the search engines (especially Google).
Off-page optimization is does not perform directly on the site, but is no less important. Off-page optimization is reduced to a simple principle: the generation of a high number (and qualitative) of external links (Backlinks) to optimize the site.
Factors influencing an external link:
- Anchor Text of Link – the words used in the anchor tag which is the link to the site;
- The popular site in the local community – popular in the local community on the subject of the site where the link is;
- Global popularity of the site – the global popularity of the site where the link is placed affects positioning of the site that aims to be optimized;
- The text surrounding the link – links placed in a context of that field are more important than empty links.
Regarding the link exchange, it can be achieved with the condition of paying increased attention to the partner site in this action. This may be banned from search engines or to produce spam, and in this case there are high chances to happen the same thing to your website as the search engines will consider them in touch. On the other hand, the site can be positioned relatively poorly in SERPs and then link exchange has no effect. Things change when it comes to serious sites with good position in SERPs and high PR. Ideal in terms of SEO are one way links, sites that are linking to your site without you having to put their link.
1. Joining free web directories
Joining free web directories though it does not bring excellent benefits, reached first on the list of tasks every webmaster when launching a new site. Registering your blog in directories is good for increasing visibility on the Internet. Register your site in major directories such as Dmoz, Yahoo! or Google. Submitting is done once and lasts up to 8 months. Not much if you want to build a strong presence in online.
2. Publishing articles in article directories
Publishing articles in article directories. Publication of articles means to write an article and to submit it to articles directory. These article directories publish or send the article to different sites that show it on the net. People, like spiders of the search engines, can read the article and then acces the links contained in it. Register articles in specialized directories such as UltimateArticleDirectory, ArticlesDirectory or MyArticles. Google Base is a place where you can easily submit all types of online and offline content that it hosts and offers to online search. Users are invited to publish any information or images, which after will be found in a database that was created for this occasion. However, in practice, Google offers to host on its servers all relevant and personalized content for users, which should significantly increase traffic on its sites and raise the revenue from online advertising.
3. Link exchange with other sites on the same niche as your website
Link exchange with other sites on the same niche as your website. Search sites that complete your site and try to get a link from them. Some of the websites may be banned from search engines or to produce spam, and in this case there are high chances to happen the same thing to your website as the search engines will consider them in touch. On the other hand, the site can be positioned relatively poorly in SERPs and then link exchange has no effect. Things change when it comes to serious sites with good position in SERPs and high PR. Ideal in terms of SEO are one way links, sites that are linking to your site without you having to put their link. Link exchange with other sites means to find other sites that will put your link to them in exchange for their link on your website. This process work on the idea “my visitor goes to you if you send me visitors”. Basically, an association of sites that are recommending each other and send their visitors between them is formed, all without advertising costs.
4. Newsletter
Newsletter is a method by which you can inform your visitors about new issues on the site, thus never losing visitors. Put a form on the homepage of the website through which visitors can enter their e-mail address to receive news about your site. Every 2 weeks or even less send an e-mail to all subscribers in which you introduce new issues on the site. This method creates a kind of community site and you bring your visitors back.
5. E-mail signature
E-mail signature. E-mail has become a standard form of correspondence in most companies. Your customers want to know who are they corresponding with and how can they contact you. Signatures for e-mail can play an important role in providing this information, differentiate your message and show your company image. Most e-mail programs offer the use of e-mail signatures. This signature consists of a text written before, and is attached at the end of the e-mail. The e-mail signature is very useful, in it you can promote your own sites or even offline businesses. Send each e-mail with the signature to your friends and make your site known.
6. Publish ads on ads sites
Publish ads on ads sites. A large proportion of sites offers free ads, besides the possibility of adding a notice, you can also add a link to your offer. Here’s another double effect. First, your ad is viewed by a visitor and, if interested in your ad, they contact you. In 2nd place, you still have a link to your website. At first glance the method is so simple. Well, not really … If in the case of adding a link in a web directory is the most permanent, in the sense that your link will be long listed in the directory, if you publish an announcement it is limited by time. Most ads expire within 30 days. So you need a good management of the published notices, so that they will be updated whenever necessary.
7. Create a niche blog
Create a niche blog. Another way to advertise for free your site is by creating a special blog in which to talk about services offered by your site and more. Create sites with interesting content and other useful sites will refer to your website naturally, without seeking you to return the favor. Here’s another interesting article about niche blogs: How to have success with a niche blog.
8. Publication of press releases
Publication of press releases. You can use press releases to optimize your own website as part of the link building campaign. This is possible because some sites allow insertion of links in the text.
9. Social Bookmarking Websites
Social Bookmarking websites can you send a ton of traffic to your blog, you just need a good place where you put the link to your blog. If your write a good article, don’t hesitate to submit it to the social bookmarking websites such as:

10. Publish documents available in electronic format or applications
Publish documents available in electronic format that links to your website or create simple software applications, free or which have at least one free component and inform other websites and forums about their existance. Most probably you’ll obtain a backlink.
11. Participate in discussion forums, blogs and add links in your signature
Participate in discussion forums, blogs and add links in your signature. Use signature in these forums and write a text which will make the signature to attract attention. Don’t forget to include a link to your site in it. If you can use an RSS Feed in your profile, then you can make all your recent posts to appear near your user name.
12. RSS Feed

RSS comes from Real Simple Syndication (or Rich Site Summary in the past) and it’s a method of communication between an informatic system (in our case, a blog) and an aggregator of informations (feed reader) through a channel (feed). RSS feeds are very useful for visitor retention. It has the advantage of reducing time browsing, because the user does not need to open a large number of pages to see the latest information on these sites, just subscribe to them and receive the latest updates on a special page. The system is used mainly for sites that update frequently, for example, news sites, blogs and podcasts. Blog Perfume has released an analysis of statistics related to the feed. Use FeedBurner’s original statistics, it does help you see some details or predictions related to the number of your readers. FeedBurner, as it says the name is a system which “burns feeds”. You make an account, add your blog feed to later find a bunch of utilities that you expect to use. Another kind of feedreader system is Google Reader.

Thanks for this post with good advices.
The thing about backlinking is that you sooner or later run out of places to link.
Well, I have that problem at least. I have programs like Scrapebox and DoFellow, but they can only find so many relevant places for me to link before they can’t find anymore.
If I were to have a backlinking campaign that creates 35 backlinks a day then in one month I would have to have about 1050 relevant sites/blogs to comment on.
I really wish I knew a good/new/better way to find places to backlink. Any advice?
