Indeed, Web 2.0, a term coined by O’Reilly Media, more precisely by Tim O’Reilly, in 2004, has contributed to the world shrink to the size of a small village, where all its inhabitants are constantly “monitored” and controlled and that any of their movement causes effects on the other side of the planet.

A “Brave New World” or “Chaos”? It’s too early for predictions, because, on the web, everything changes on the minute and we are still trying to understand the phenomenon. Remember when sending a simple e-mail was a novelty? Today, e-mail is the most used tool of communication in businesses! What about tools that favour the collective intelligence? In a very simple definition, we will say that Web 2.0 includes the full set of websites that grow in value through the actions of its users.

But how your company can take advantage of this phenomenon to boost its visibility and reputation? We will “travel” by the basic concepts, strengths and weaknesses of e-marketing.

This achieves more space in the marketing plans of the organizations and can be seen as a transposition of the traditional concept of marketing to a virtual plane. The e-marketing has enabled a greater interaction between businesses and customers, faster and cheaper, resulting in efficiency and profitability in its action.

Global Reach – many brands now use the web to internationalize, something that, using the traditional means, would be slower and more expensive;

Measurable Results (Tracking) – one of the key issues of e-marketing, because the Web provides mechanisms to assess directly the reaction of customers, with the use of statistical software and CRM (Costumer Relationship Marketing), which give the owner of the website; data on visitors and their navigation on the site and on the needs of consumers – the millions of forms on the Internet are used to this;

Marketing 24 hours – the information is available 24 hours/day;

Personalization – the perception of the preferences and needs (through statistics purposes, a time to visit a website, number of times you accessed a particular site, etc..), which enables campaigns one-to-one;

Creativity;

Interactivity and Immediate Response of Audience.

Impersonal communication;

Price competitiveness – the easy dissemination and transparency of prices, giving an increased competition in the price of goods or services to market;

Demanding consumers – access to a greater flow of information makes consumers more informed about the products or services they wish to acquire. The provision of feedback from other customers and the tools to compare products and offerings available are resources that influence the time of purchase, as consumers tend to believe more in the opinion of other consumers than the brand that is always ready.

It is thus that, as in a traditional marketing plan, the strengths and weaknesses of the various platforms available on the Web should be considered in drawing up a strategy for e-marketing. But is that all brands can be “sold” on the Internet? At the outset, no! Everything depends on the target audience and objectives to be achieved? Do the target customers of the Louis Vuitton are on Facebook or Twitter? And customers of a company of detergents to the floor? Before, the web has provided, to small and medium-sized businesses, tools to compete in markets where before it would be very difficult to compete. First, it reduces the barriers at the outset of his appearance, then it is an accessible means for transmitting messages of a commercial nature, fostering creativity with low financial and logistical resources.

We are interested in, therefore, address some of the concepts that the online medium brought to marketing:

Technical one-to-one

One of the criticisms that usually points to the digital medium is the impersonal relations. If we lost, a long time ago the personal treatment we received from the person at the counter in the grocery store, this feeling deepens when we doesn’t see who is even at the checkout. Consumers feel that their preferences are known by the brand.

Virtual Communities

In web 2.0 you can engage customers in virtual communities. There are brands that involve their customers in designing their own products, making them joining groups where ideas are exchanged and where the brand is inspired to their further development of them. Software engeneers, for example, are lavish in creating virtual communities to develop open source software.

Permission Marketing

By SMS, e-mail, Internet and traditional media (newspapers, radio, television, billboards and many others) comes to us every day thousands of advertising messages that we do not want and automatically ignore, forgot or erase. The remote control television came exactly to avoid the publicity. Now comes the new concept of “Permission Marketing”, who appeals to permit the recipient to receive promotional messages, with greater success because if the campaign is well organized may have another effect – it also associated with web 2.0 – the viral marketing.

Viral Marketing

Viral Marketing in addition to spread like a virus, the most valuable asset of a viral marketing campaign is the potential low cost, because its success depends more of the creativity than the budget. Basically, based on the design of a message that motivates others to forward it to your network and that their contacts and so on until it causes an “epidemic”.

In conclusion, we can say that what essentially changed in marketing with the Web 2.0 is the introduction of a new P to the four that already exist on the so-called marketing mix – to the product, price, placement and promotion, joins the P Participation. In digital media, the consumer is a word increasingly important in the product, making it a Prosumer (producer and consumer).

However, I have found that one of best strategies to get your articles seen is not to go around and post thousands upon thousands of links, it’s actually a lot easier than that – guest blogging.

What is guest blogging?

Guest blogging is where another website / blog will allow you to post your article on their website. This benefits both parties, as both blogs will gain visitors.

Guest blogging is one of the most powerful ways to build your brand and increase your website’s popularity. It allows you to expose your company to a much wider audience and is a great way to build contacts.

Not only will guest blogging increase your company’s awareness, but will play an important role within search engine optimisation. If your content is unique and worthy of sharing, then you could soon see hundreds if not thousands of deep links starting to point to you.

How to contribute

Now you know the basics about guest blogging, its now time to find suitable websites.

Finding relevant blogs / websites that may allow you to post your articles is easy once you know what you’re looking for. Using some simple search phrases in Google should bring up a long list for you to then go and contact.

Use the below search phrases, changing the keyword to something relevant.
[Keyword] “guest blogger” OR “guest post” OR “guest article”
[Keyword] “contribute to this site” “write for us” OR “write for me”
When contacting the webmasters, I find it best to include some sample writing and state some topics that you may write about.

What not to do

When guest blogging, I would keep in mind the following:

1) Guest posting is meant to be a win-win situation. You are the guest, making demands or a fuss to the host will not endear you and can cause more harm than good.

2) Do not ignore the audience. Your articles should take into account the style of the blog and the audience it attracts. You should also check back regularly to respond to any comments or feedback.

3) Don’t over advertise. Sure, one of the main reasons you have posted the article is to advertise yourself or your business, but filling your content with links or affiliate codes will more than likely backfire.

After you have gained permission, you’re ready to go! Write some great content, with a link back to your website at the bottom and hopefully watch your company grow.

A blog (a contraction of the term “web log”) is a type of website, usually maintained by an individual with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video. Entries are commonly displayed in reverse-chronological order. “Blog” can also be used as a verb, meaning to maintain or add content to a blog. – Wikipedia

More and more people are starting to have a blog. But I have a question, what is the main cause which determines them to make a blog? I’ve asked a few people and here are their answers.

    Nowadays you can see more and more new blogs. I think there are 3 main blog categories: Business Blog, Sharing knowledge blog and Blogging for money.

    In my opinion blogging is an excellent way to make new friends and useful connections. If you have a business, it is also a very good way to promote yourself, get acquainted with your clients to open a debate.

    Second type – share knowledge. The desire to share their experiences, teach others. I am in this blog‘s category. I love design, graphics, blogging. I am a dedicated and every day I learn something new and I try to share my interests with my readers.

    And the third type of course is writing for the money. You can easily identify such blogs from the copied, low quality content and tons of ads. Yes you can earn from blogging, but not in one day or month, as I mentioned you have to dedicate for blogging to be successful.

Blogging: for passion or just for money?

There are different type of “bloggers”: some of them are starting a blog just because they think that money can be won very fast & easy, without much work and the others which are starting a blog to share their knowledge, to help others, to promote themselves, to get in touch with new people, to write about what they like and, why not, win some money from this.

The “problem” is that the majority starts a blog just because they want to be successful with it and win lots of money really fast and they think that it’s easy and doesn’t need any involvement. Let me tell you that it is NOT easy and it involves a lot of work!

There are lots of blogs started every day, but many of them die after a few months from lack of interest, not being original, copy/pasting from other blogs and so on.

There are many blogs with 100.000 RSS subscribers or 100.000 Twitter followers and I bet that you are asking how did they manage to do that. It’s simple: you need to like what you’re writing about, you need to know what you’re writing about, you need to post constantly and, most important, you need to BE ORIGINAL if you want to have a successful blog!

]]> As a photographer you will know what it’s like to deal with the dreaded “Camera Shake“.

Camera shake gets amplified when you’re photographing in bad lighting or if you’re zoomed up on your subject. Small things such as breathing a little as you capture your photo can result in a horribly blurred photo.

The Solution

Many people will say that the obvious answer to getting rid of camera shake is using a tripod or leaning on something stable. But what if you’ve left your tripod at home or there’s nothing solid and stable to rest on. I’m going to give you a few hints on how to reduce camera shake, and if you practice enough maybe you could even eliminate it all together.

Put your arms into it

Don’t hold the camera too far away from your body, when you extend your arms, the slightest movement gets amplified and results in a blurry photo, unless that’s what you’re going for of course. Look through the viewfinder; keep one hand on the lens with your elbow tilted inwards. Keep your other arm close to your body to stop it from shaking around when you’re holding up the camera.

The machine gun hold

This is a technique that I don’t use that often because I’m a bit of a manual-focus junkie. It may not work for me but that doesn’t mean that you won’t benefit from it. What you need to do is grab your right shoulder with your left hand. Now point your elbow outwards and use your arm as a platform on which you may rest your camera. When I’m using auto-focus for things such as sport photography this position really helps a lot. Give it a go and tell me what you think.

Shutter Speed

There is a relation between the shutter speed and focal length of your lens. The general idea is that your shutter speed is at least one faster that your focal length. This means that if you are using a 300mm telephoto lens for instance your shutter speed should be at least 1/320s in order for you to reduce camera shake.

As you now know the slightest bit of movement can result in camera shake even something as small as pressing the button to take the photo. The ideal solution is to get a remote shutter trigger for your camera. If this is not possible there is an easier way, all you have to do is switch to multishot mode, the first few photos might have a little camera shake but after that it should be nice and clear.

Hold your breath

This is the golden rule of reducing camera shake. When you are taking a photo, breathe in and hold your breath, exhale once you have captured the shot.
