Create A Retro Photo Effect

Create A Retro Photo Effect

Our 20th tutorial on AREA 1, creating a retro photo effect!

Here’s what can you achieve by following this tutorial:
Retro Photo Effect

First, open the image you want to convert into a retro photo in Adobe Photoshop.

Then go to Filter > Texture > Grain (Intensity: 0 / Contrast: 100 / Grain Type: Soft).
See Screenshot 1.

After this, go to Image > Adjustments > Hue/Saturation (or hit CTRL + U) and check the Colorize box. Use Hue: 200 / Saturation: 30 / Lightness: 55.
See Screenshot 2.

Duplicate your layer and then go to Filter > Blur > Motion Blur (Angle: 90 / Distance: 35).
See Screenshot 3.

Change the blending mode of this layer to Color Burn.

You can use any settings you want at the Hue/Saturation step. If you want other color, just change the settings until you are satisfied.

That’s it! Hope you like it!
