Creating A Magazine Cover In Adobe Photoshop

Creating A Magazine Cover In Adobe Photoshop

What is a magazine?
Magazines, periodicals, glossies or serials are publications, generally published on a regular schedule, containing a variety of articles, generally financed by advertising, by a purchase price, by pre-paid magazine subscriptions, or all three. Magazines can be distributed through the mail; through sales by newsstands, bookstores or other vendors; or through free distribution at selected pick up locations.Wikipedia

In my opinion, a magazine is (or let’s say was for some of us) a method to get yourself informed about different subjects, read the latest gossips or just relax while reading.

Today, we will learn how to create a magazine cover in Adobe Photoshop.

Here’s a preview of what are going to create with the help of this tutorial over here on AREA 1.

PREVIEW of Creating a magazine cover in Adobe Photoshop

Start by creating a new project, choose International Paper preset and then A4.

Next, let’s find the image we want to use as a front photo for our cover. Usually, this image is representing the most important subject in the magazine.

This is the image I’ve used: Love is ….

Bring your photo in Adobe Photoshop, scale it and leave around 0,5cm top, left and right margin.

Draw a rectangle above the picture, just as I did.

Now, it’s time to add the title, subtitle and so on; I’ve chosen “Young Love”.

Draw under the picture 3 rectangles, as I did. We’ll cover there 3 most important articles in the magazine. We will fill them with the name of the articles we’ve chosen and a few information beside and maybe a small picture.

That’s it! The result depends only on your imagination.
